Stivali dives into the singular universe of Anna Prior at its Avenida boutique. Drummer of Metronomy, DJ and producer, Anna lives in Lisbon, the city where she composed part of her debut EP, Almost Love (2024). Between the rhythm of the stage and the intimacy of the studio, she shares her creative life, the rituals that bring her balance and where she finds happiness — always with music as her guiding thread.

How would you define your style? Laid-back chic – structured, oversized blazers with shoulder pads, neatly ironed jeans (sized up to give the perfect fit around my hips), a vintage loafer.
Something you’ve recently rediscovered… I’ve rediscovered my love of vintage dresses. Something about the way they cut them back in the 80s was extremely flattering.
A brand you keep coming back to… Weekday for their jeans.
Which project/piece of work are you most proud of? My debut EP that came out in 2024 ‘Almost Love’. I wrote a chunk of it in Portugal and I’m very proud of it.
Best thing about your job… At the moment, I have been afforded a lot of free time to work on new music. Being able to really absorb myself in the music is a privilege.
What is a secret / misconception about your work? It’s no longer a secret, but it’s becoming increasingly hard to sustain oneself with music alone due to incredibly small pay-outs from subscription streaming services.
What’s your current obsession? My cat.
Best remedy after a long night’s work… Sleeping until 10am with my white noise machine in my ears.
How you sweat… A follow a 20 minute Joe Wicks kettlebell work-out on YouTube every morning before breakfast.
What is your favourite way to unwind? An ice cold beer in the afternoon at my local quiosque.

A place we should all know about… Yorkshire, where I’m from, is one of the most magical places in England. Green, luscious and full of history.
Last trip you took… I went to Oslo in March to write some songs with my friend. It was the end of winter, so it was still icy cold with a light dusting of snow. I went for a sauna and a plunge in the fjord one evening. It was ethereal.
Best conversation starter… Hi, you smell nice!
What is your favourite club at the moment / in Lisbon? The Kissaten for some exquisite whiskey cocktails and records and Lux for some late night dancing.
What’s your drink of choice? Depends on the hour. I love an icy cold beer (Portugal takes the temperature of beer very seriously) during the days times and for the late night dancing, I like a tequila and soda.
An artist that inspires you in your own work… Robert Smith.
Which musical artist should we pay more attention to? Mörmaid, Julia-Sophie, Caroline Lethô
What’s on your private playlist right now? The Cure
What is most marked characteristic I’m not materialistic.
Which talent would you most like to have? To be a polyglot.
What is your greatest extravagance? Expensive Italian vermouth.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Laying on top of a hill, with a 22degree sun shining on me, an expansive horizon, birds chirping, bumble bees buzzing and a big packet of salt and vinegar crisps.
